About event
The comeback of the cult Boston band Karate, which in the nineties became famous for its distinctive combination of EMO, punk and post-rock with jazz, last year resulted in a new album Make It Fit. Geoff Farina, Jeff Goddard and Gavin McCarthy will bring it to Prague on Friday, April 25

Careful guitar of Geoff Farina and his calm, civilian voice. Jazz playful bass Jeff Goddard and accurate, austere drum Gavin McCarthy. Fragile songs about crunching snow, growl of the refrigerator in a quiet apartment, about eternal losses. Soon after its inception in 1993, Boston Karate built a completely unmistakable sound manuscript: Farin's guitar hobby in prehistoric blues found unexpected in the post -punk aesthetics, from which key records such as In Place of Real Insight (1997) or The Bed is in the Ocean (1998). Pockets (2004): Geoff Farina set out on a remarkable solo career (but also founded underestimated trio GLORYTELLERS), Gavin McCarthy was realized as a drummer in Thalia Zedek Band and Noise trio E. Comeback in 2022. It mixes all the ingredients typical of karate, while in some places leaning towards a more rocking position that resonated in the very beginning of the band. With great joy, we announce that Karate will go back to Prague after many years: Geoff Farina, Jeff Goddard and Gavin McCarthy will play 25 April at MeetFactory. The first will be the Chicago duo Kinsella & Pulse, LLC. You can know the names of Tim Kinsel and Jenny Pulse from the bands Joan of Arc, Cap'n Jazz or Spa Mans. Their joint creation is full of art-rock collages, avant-pop and electronic experiments. At MeetFactory, Ing Night will present its new album, which is released a week before the concert. The fragile poetic songwriting of the frontman of the London Buriers band combines minimalist guitar lines with melancholy leaks, lo-fi folk and (anti-) rap experiments. James P Honey
