About event
The Observatory and Planetarium Brno on 23 October 2025 at 18:00 cordially invites you to the lecture by Associate Professor Karel Lemr from the common laboratory of Optics Upol, entitled "Quantum cryptography: Secrets that have been guarding natural laws". For centuries, more and more refined methods of encryption have been created - and also the ways to break them. This lecture will guide you through a thrilling historical battle between encryption and breaking and showing why quantum cryptography, based on the principles of quantum physics, represents a truly revolutionary approach to securing messages. We will explain how quantum cryptography works, what physical principles it stands on and why it is at least theoretically considered to be indispensable. And since it has moved from research laboratories to the real world over the past twenty years, we will also look at where each of us can meet it. He will play in the hall of a large planetarium with a capacity of 189 seats. Admission is 150 CZK. You are all cordially invited 🙂
