Karel Plíhal is not only a songwriter, but also a poet with a refined sense of humor and irony, as well as a musician with a feeling for unforgettable melody and precise harmony.
Karel Plíhal became a synonym of Czech folk songwriting a long time ago. He has been on the scene for four decades. He had his first solo performance in 1983. Between 1985 and 1993 he collaborated with Emil Pospíšil and in 1995-1999 he was accompanied by Petr Freund. He became a four-time prize-winner of the competitive music festival Porto.
He also credited the authorship of several scenic compositions for theaters and films. The album Vzduchovoztiny was awarded the Anděl music prize. The album Albums and Bonuses from 2018 offers a picture of his current form.
However, even health complications did not take away his desire to continue creating and giving concerts. That is why he is accompanied at concerts by guitarist Petr Fiala, with whom he gets along not only humanly, but especially musically. Plíhal himself enriched his songs by playing another stringed instrument - the mandola. It is tuned a fifth lower and complements the guitar perfectly.
Karel Plíhal is constantly working on new songs and will bring them to Slovakia together with his best ones.
