About event
📚 Theater Institute, Institute of Theater and Film Science of the Center for Art Sciences, SAV, v. v. i., you are cordially invited to the presentation of the monograph
🎭 Karol Machata. An actor in the mirror of history
by Karol Mišovic, which will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. 📅 in the premises of Studio 12 at Jakubovo námestí 12 in Bratislava. 📍
👥 The publication will be brought to life by director Júlia Rázusová and actor Robert Roth with the participation of the author and the actor's oldest grandson Martin. ✨
Based on period documents, memories of monuments and audiovisual materials, the author examines not only the actor's extraordinary career, but also the wider social, political and aesthetic contexts that shaped the development of Slovak theater and audiovisual culture in the second half of the 20th century. 🎬🎙️
🕰️ The monograph does not aim for an uncritical celebration of the legend of Slovak acting. Instead, it offers a plastic image of Karol Machata's personality and at the same time captures the history of Slovak theater, film and radio from the late 1940s to the end of the last century through his artistic career. 🎞️
🎟️ Entry to the event is free.
