"All things are overlapping and connecting all things. - Zomimos from Panopol
Alchemy is a continuous cycle of transformation in which matter of matter, spirit and story encounters. Although it is often presented as the work of older men, it has never been exclusively. Women played an important but often overlooked role in the field of healing, metallurgy and experimentation with material - from Jewish Mary, who was a pioneer of laboratory technology, after Isabella Cortees, which recorded alchemical knowledge in the press. This exhibition revives their legacy, watching the human-material loop where substances are converted, bodies connect with the country and know the knowledge in minerals, metals and ash. Live - they are carriers of memory, events and transformations. The alchemical transformation process is introduced through interconnected spaces: In the first, the soil becomes an alchemical vessel - archive and incubator - keeping a deep time in cycles of decomposition, fertility and recovery. In the second space, the soul focuses on the alchemist as a guardian of intuition and rituals. The space is enclosed by a spirit that opens into a blooming flower, as the embodiment of transcendentality and dissolved borders.
Alchemy also resonates in today's digital era through consumer dreams about eternal youth and technological fantasies of immortality. Behind this current obsession, however, the ancient knowledge remains: matter itself carries wisdom, constantly transforms and restores in the infinite cycle of birth and disappearance.
Katalin Kortmann-Járay and Karina Mendreczky form an artistic couple that has been working closely since 2019. Spatial collages composed of different elements, combining various techniques and materials such as textiles, photographs and statues made of iron, concrete or clay to create metaphorically fragile spaces. In collective memory they try to involve through the creation of parallels between contemporary animistic perspectives and their historical and cultural counterparts, rooted in the ecological crisis. motifs. Care and interconnection, traditionally associated with femininity, is expressed through personified objects, beings and plants. The authors call on the viewer to put himself in individual scenarios and explore their multilayeredness. Art Support Fund is the main partner of the project. PM

Alchemy is a Continous Cycle of Transformation, Where Matter, Spirit, and Story Converge. Though OFTEN IMAGINED AS THE WORK OF OLD MEN, Alchemy Was Never Solely Theirs. Women Played and Vital Yet OFTEN Obscuren Role Through Healing, Metallurgy, And Material Experimentation - Frome Maria the Jewess, WHO Pionered Laboratory Techniques, Isabella Cortese, WHO Recorded Alchemical Knowledge in Print. This Exhibition Revives Their Legacy, Tracing The Human-Material Loop Where Substances Shift, Bodies Merge with Landscapes, And Knowledge Lingers in Minerals, Metals, Ash.
