The fascinating landscape of southern Kazakhstan is a treasure trove of unspoiled nature and fabulous mountain scenery. A monumental wall of 4,000 peaks rises like a ghost a few kilometers behind the metropolis of Almaty. The steppe at the foot of the mountains is torn by deep gorges, dominated by the Grand Canyon of Central Asia - Šaryn. From the frosty breath of glaciers and turquoise lakes, we descend to the singing sand dunes and colorful rocks of Aktau in Altyn-Emel National Park. Roman Janusz will tell you how to (not) get fined in the heavily guarded "penitentiary", how to overcome the shield of the Soviets, how to survive an avalanche and "amputation" fords.
