About event
In cooperation with the N Press publishing house we cordially invite you to a discussion with historian Hana Kubátová, M.A., Ph.D. About her book where foxes give good night.
Historian Hana Kubátová in the book where foxes give goodnight: Christian nationalism and Holocaust in Slovakia examines how the formation of the national state during World War II was connected with collective betrayal and genocide. It shows that the Holocaust was not only a "imported" tragedy that Nazi Germany was involved in Slovakia, but the process in which the Slovaks themselves - political and religious elites, local officials and ordinary citizens - participated. This book disrupts a comfortable myth about Slovakia as a victim of the Nazi dictation and asks how a country that was presented as a Christian and national, becoming an active participant of the Holocaust. It was allowed by daily manifestations of loyalty, compromises and greed, even in the most remote corners of the country where foxes give a good night. Historical analysis of events overlaps with warning against the power of nationalist ideologies crossing the boundaries - geographical and time.
Entry voluntary.
