About event

Why did Milan Kundera only provide accompanying texts for readers? What is their meaning for understanding his work? 🤔

These and other questions will be answered by a lecture by a prominent bohemist and expert in the work of Milan Kundera prof. Kenichi Abe of the University of Tokyo. In the center of interest, there will be the author's preface and notes that appear exclusively in Czech editions. The lecture is one of the appearances of Professor Abe in the Czech Republic to receive the Prime Minister Bohemica, award, which has been awarded to foreign bohemists since 1993, which has contributed to the dissemination of Czech literature in their mother tongue. He works as an associate professor at the Department of Contemporary Literature of Tokyo University and is devoted to Czech literature of the 20th century. His leading research interest includes the works of Bohumil Hrabal or Milan Kundera, whose essays kidnapped West, or, the tragedy of Central Europe and the self -evidence of the nation were currently published in Japanese in the translation of Keinichi Abe. 📚
