About event
2026 is a special year in the Rákóczi memory: this year we celebrate II. the 350th anniversary of the birth of Ferenc Rákóczi, while in Kassa we also remember the events connected with the return of the prince's mortal remains and his reburial in 1906. On the occasion of these significant anniversaries, we pay tribute to one of the most prominent figures in Hungarian history, II. in front of Ferenc Rákóczi. The exhibition was originally prepared by the Imre Henszlmann Historical Society, and was authored by the late György Halász, who played an important role in presenting Rákóczi's memory and historical heritage with his work. The newly renovated exhibition was realized with the support of the Hungarian Government, creating an opportunity for the historical material to reach today's audience in a renewed and dignified form.
The other traveling exhibition is also special! The exhibition "Following Rákóczi and Kuruc memories in Europe" II. It presents the lesser-known European memories of Ferenc Rákóczi's youth and life. The exhibition, which consists of 28 tableaus, presents the historical memories and locations of 13 countries and memories related to Rákóczi and his fellow refugees. The rich visual material and research results guide the visitor to places that are less known to the general public. In recent years, the current exhibition has been presented in Vienna, Paris, London, Lyon and the Netherlands, among others, and now it will be open to the public of Kassa.
Thus, we invite the interested public to the opening of a double exhibition at the MaJel Rovás Center on August 19, 2026, starting at 6 p.m.
