About event
After several years in prison in a Berlin prison, Tianhong returns to his Taiwanian home village: Yongjing, which means eternal peace, but for Tianhong everything is other than that. As the latest of seven siblings, he grew up with superstitions, clichés and immersible role images and fled to Berlin, hoping to be able to live a free, self -determined life as a homosexual man. But he ends his marriage to a German with the murder of him. How could this come about?
on the day of the ghost festival, just the day of his return to the village, Tianhong conjures up a polyphonic choir of living and deceased, present and past experiences, and bit by bit a mosaic of life forms between the extreme: there is the dead mother, who always wanted to give birth to a son; The husband who, out of hope, breeded orchids out of hope; The sister, who pulls itself back into the dark for fear of what is hidden behind the windows, and the Dorfdepp, which was the smartest of everyone. Identity.
Kevin Chen, born in 1976 in Changhua, Taiwan, began his artistic career as a film actor and played in the Taiwanese and German films Ghosted, Kung Bao Huhn and Global Player. Today he lives in Berlin and works as an author for the magazine Performing Arts Review.
Monika Li, born in Heidelberg in 1985, studied German, philosophy and sinology at Heidelberg University and at the National Taiwan University. She has been translating literature from Taiwan and China into German since 2020.
