About event
Les Femmes S'en Mêlent & Persona Grata present
☞ KIM GORDON on October 23, 2024 at the Elysée Montmartre for the 25th anniversary of Femmes S'en Mêlent!
She ignited the powder and galvanized the fourth edition of Femmes S'en Mêlent in March 2001 (accompanied by Ikue Mori, DJ Olive, Jim O'Rourke and with the exceptional presence of Brigitte Fontaine and Areski) and thus allowed the festival to relaunch over several decades. 23 years later, Kim Gordon is once again kind enough to return to Femmes S'en Mêlent this fall for her only date in France.
With her new solo album, the incandescent and venomous The Collective, which mixes hypnotic loops, devastating riffs, spoken word and trap, she is once again the initiator of one of the most surprising musical shocks of 2024!
Let's not miss the opportunity to celebrate the legendary bassist of the no less cult New York group Sonic Youth.

Since From co-founding the groundbreaking group Sonic Youth in the early '80s, Kim Gordon has remained at the heart of music, art and (more recently) books and film. She reached #1 on the NY Times bestseller list with her memoir Girl In A Band (2015), starred under the direction of Gus Van Sant (in Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot (2018)) and has opened multiple solo exhibitions in internationally renowned museums. She has also released music and performed as one half of Body/Head alongside Bill Nace.
Recorded in Los Angeles, Gordon's hometown, "The Collective" follows the surprising "No Home Record" (2019), his first solo album, and sees his collaboration with the producer continue Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, John Cale, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). The album is an extension of the musical universe they built together, between the dub and trap ruins of Raisen and the arch-inventive textual constructions of Gordon, together evoking this world of saturated sensitivity.

Although associated with techno, his music goes well beyond the definition of the genre and oscillates between electronica, world music and noise. She draws inspiration from the raw sounds of her native Silesia, precisely interwoven with tribal chants and oriental elements. The robustness of an industrial grinding machine, pensive but melodic, close to trance. Zamilska has performed on the biggest stages in her country - Poland, worked with acclaimed local artists as well as ensembles like the Philharmonicorchestra and earned three nominations at the Polish equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
She will present his new album “United Kingdom of Anxiety”.

Since 1997, the Les Femmes S'en Mêlent (LFSM) festival has focused on LGBTQIA+ community, in order to give them a maximum visibility on a musical scene which is not always favorable to them.
Well before the debates on parity, LFSM was, from the start, a response to the under-representation of women in music. most festivals thus becoming the first international event defending the musical creation of female artists.
Faithful to its DNA, Les Femmes S'en Mêlent remains driven by the desire to unite and bring together through concerts , meetings and workshops.
