About event

The BALI Cinema Berlin is showing this original Polish film in its “Cinema of the Neighbors” series in cooperation with the German-Polish Society Berlin e. V..

The film tells the story of Peter Nelke and his family - descendants of Jewish residents of pre-war Stettin, Rosa and Max Nelke. They were deported in February 1940 in the first large-scale transport of Jewish citizens of the German Reich from the then German Stettin to the area of what was then the General Government. The film also shows Peter's efforts to honor the memory of his grandparents by having stumbling blocks laid in front of the tenement house in which they lived and from where they were deported to certain death.

Originally in Polish with German subtitles.

Directed by Kinga Konieczny/ Paweł Sroka, Poland 2025, 70 minutes, FSK o. A.
