About event
Caliu feels trapped in the Roma settlement where he was born and refuses to accept the fact that his fame as the "king of the violin" is a thing of the past. Between the challenges of the present and the memories of the golden era, he embarks on a journey of his own rebirth. Music remains the only constant that keeps him afloat and drives him forward.
The film, set in the elemental world of authentic Roma music, takes place in contrast between boisterous concerts and the quiet, stereotypical rhythm of the village. While the tradition of folk musicians is gradually disappearing, Caliu is preparing for a spectacular comeback with his new band. The film captures his changing emotional world – from unceasing ambition to moments of deep vulnerability – and presents a nuanced portrait of a man who is the embodiment of both tradition and a major life change. Come enjoy a movie night in the library and discover a story that will remain in your memory long after the movie ends 🌙.
