INFO ABOUT THE FILM:
Capitalism After New
Capitalism Our Improved Formula
Country of origin: RO, FR, BE | Year of establishment: 2010 | Running time: 80 min | Director: Alexandru Solomon
What would Nicolae Ceaușescu say if he returned to Romania after twenty years? Alexander Solomon's documentary builds on this ironic notion and, through meetings with the new business elites, reveals the form of post-socialist capitalism, in which power, money and influence were often born from ties to the old regime. The film brings exceptional access to Romanian tycoons in their homes, offices and private life, and composes a bitterly funny portrait of the new ruling class. With insight, sharp irony and accurate observation, he shows that although the language of the system changed after the fall of the dictatorship, many mechanisms of power remained suspiciously familiar.
