About event
We will have an interview with Şahap Eraslan about his book 'Journey Connotations in a Culture (Jealousy, Envy and Resentment: Another Türkiye Story)'.
Our meeting will be on Thursday, October 16th at 19:00 at Familiengarten. We are waiting for you all.
About the Book:
All segments of Turkish society have been in mixed feelings for a long time. In addition to social injustices, thousands of people were killed and millions were displaced as a result of wars both inside and outside. Despite this, we can still hear cries of "Let's kill more, let's continue the war." However, all this violence and ultimately death increases the anger and resentment of these people. Society turns this resentment into a vengeful reaction to injustice. Anger decreases when we punish those we see as guilty. But in this social resentment, every punishment given intensifies the anger even more. While the tradition and culture of the perpetrator is forming on one side, there is the identity of the victim and emotional paralysis on the other.
Even after many years, awareness of the crime cannot be formed over these traumatic events. Despite all this, regardless of whether it is good or bad, every movie ends when the hero dies.
About the speaker:
Şahap Eraslan went to Germany before the 1980 coup. After graduating from the Department of Psychology at the Technical University of Berlin, he studied Ethnology at Humboldt University. He received training in spouse and family therapy and clinical hypnosis. He became a psychoanalyst after a long training period. Eraslan, whose areas of expertise are cultural psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic culture comparisons, currently works as a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in Berlin.
