The artist group Seafoam Palace transforms the Humboldthain flakturm into a cosmic fragment in its narrative sound and light installation "Roadside Picnic". In an atmospheric tour, visitors explore a unreal between history and imagination in which the projected world has come out of joint.
A planet that has left its solar system glides aimlessly and silently through the dark. In the rushed world of his landscapes, inspired by the "Zone" in Andrei Tarkowskij's film Stalker, other natural laws apply: concrete blocks hang on wafer -thin threads, water flows upwards, memories and wishes take shape. The visitors are invited to explore this fictional world themselves. In cooperation with the Berlin Unterwelten e.V., Seafoam Palace presents its narrative sound and light installation in one of the most impressive buildings in Berlin.
Seafoam Palace is an artist group from Detroit/USA that has been organizing location-specific events, art exhibitions and schnitzel hunts in underground and abandoned rooms for over 20 years. Her planetary series »Falling Sideways« has also been listed in Wieliczka Salzwerk (Poland), Tunisia, Estonia and various locations in the USA.
