Municipalities have a huge task to make the existing homes energy -efficient and natural gas -free. Just like in healthcare, they can't do that alone. Social initiatives and intermediaries such as city makers, social workers or energy coaches are often better able to find out the front door and to build trust among residents. Moreover, the approach becomes unfeasible if everything has to be done with paid forces. The available financial resources are insufficient for this.

Energy cooperative DEA in Apeldoorn is an inspiring example of this collaboration, from which we can learn a lot from. Floriske van Geest, director of DEA, talks to us about the approach in Apeldoorn and its background.
