About event
When we walked out of the theater, he told me:
You lost your mind, hair and husband. /
In my life I was cut only by three men I allowed it.
Cutting is an inner act for me. /
For me my hair is clothes.
I just have to get a wig, because I sometimes have a taste for long hair. Later, it could have been a haircut to define against the patriarchate and the rejection of the dictation, could be part of the culture and safe space for a passing person, could be a new, courageous beauty, symbolically mark the moment of transformation (cutting off the old and creating space for new ones). Despite the long history and gradual transformation of meaning, however, short hair can still arouse strong reactions of the surroundings and continue to be the phantom property of families or partners. utopian (and often uniform) ideals.
-
Although the whole production team has linked the topic of short-hairedness, it turned out what different stories our hair are saying and what they mean to. They are clothes, they are a gesture, they are a revolution, they are magic, they are the trace of our identities across time.
A collective testimony intertwined with dream scenes arises from the testimony of individual performers. The audience thus finds ourselves on surreal dance performance with ceremonial and documentary characters that invites each and each of us to tell our own story through hair optics.
“With symbols it is possible to manipulate something to express or shoot, but the meaning of hair, especially as a symbol of identity, it is difficult to overestimate.”
