About event
One evening, two strong female singers' voices that push the boundaries of the Slovak musical space and an unforgettable atmosphere.
NINA KOHUT
Singer, composer and producer Nina Kohout is a graduate of the prestigious London music school The BRIT School, which Adele and Amy Winehouse also graduated from. In 2020, she won the title Discovery of the Year at the Radio_Head Awards, and at the beginning of 2022, she released her debut EP Pandemonium, which received excellent reviews not only from domestic but also foreign media, including the British BBC radio. The song 'Moonlight', one of the songs on this EP, was named Song of the Day by US radio KEXP. At the end of last year, she released her debut album Gentle Autopsy, which, among other things, received a nomination for the best Slovak album of the year at the Czech Anděl awards, which further underlines Nina's place on the domestic and foreign music scene.
In 2024, she performed more than forty concerts in Europe, including Bratislava Jazz Days, Viva Musica Festival and a concert in the iconic Hackney Church in London. In addition, he has participated in the largest European showcase festival Eurosonic in the Netherlands, Waves Vienna in Austria, Budapest Showcase Hub in Hungary, as well as concerts in the Italian club Santeria and the Slovenian club Kino Šiška. In the summer of 2025, he will perform on the main stage of the Pohoda Festival, where he will front the band Massive Attack.
In his music, he combines the mysterious shades of old Slovak folklore, serious music and the freshness of dark electronics. With her sound narrative, she pushes the boundaries of musical obedience and leads a constant conversation between invasive horror and fragile purity.
KATARÍNA MÁLIKOVÁ
Katarína Máliková is one of the most outstanding talents on the Slovak music scene. Her debut album Pustvopol (Slnko records, 2016) received critical acclaim, nominations and awards in Slovakia and abroad and is considered one of the brightest Slovak debuts of the last decade. Postalgia (Slnko records, 2019), her second studio album in a row, crosses the boundaries of the world music genre and ranks among records in the style of synth-pop with elements of serious music. Katarína Máliková has performed in 12 countries all over Europe, her music has been heard on radios around the world (BBC6, KEXP) and she is currently performing solo, where she returns to her classical musical craft.
Brilliant piano arrangements in her performance accompany vocals of a wide scope, which balances on often extreme positions of the vocal registers. Minimalistic piano and vocal improvisations create dreamlike soundscapes throughout her performance.
In her current concert playlist, Katarína also includes songs that cannot be found on streams or on any of the albums released so far.
