About event
What roles do art institutions play in society today? To whom is art really accessible - and how do the physical and social barriers that exist in this environment relate to this? And how can institutions contribute to care, well-being and the creation of shared space?
The colloquium will focus on the changing roles of art institutions, with a special emphasis on making art accessible, inclusion and promoting well-being. Through concrete examples from practice, the guests will present how cultural institutions respond to social, cultural and political challenges and how they expand their traditional functions towards care, participation and work with diverse audiences. The program will be divided into three thematic blocks. The first will address well-being and other new roles for institutions, including projects linking art with mental health care and interdisciplinary collaboration. The second block will focus on inclusive practice, making art accessible to different groups of audiences and developing participatory approaches. The third block will open the topic of language as a key tool of communication - it will focus on the accessibility and comprehensibility of texts, inclusive and gender-sensitive expression and how language can contribute to the creation of a more open and safer institutional environment.
The aim of the colloquium will be to share practice, identify obstacles to its development and support dialogue between experts across institutions and disciplines.
