About event
🎨Peter Šulavík: A road that leads somewhere? - exhibition opening
👤Curator: Beata Jablonská
🔜 Guided tour: 05.06. at 17:30
📆Duration of the exhibition: 14.05. - 05.06.2026
"In addition to the discussion regarding the creation process and starting points that culminated in the exhibited works, the author will also bring a selection of several literary works that were helpful and determining when working."
Peter Šulavík transforms the attic space of the Artoteka Gallery into a path between three physical entities: space + object + body. And again, only with his typically minimalist contribution - of interconnecting the space with the surfaces of the exhibited objects in such a way as to connect them in a dynamic movement, reminiscent of WAVING. So that everyone who enters his line of forces feels the presence of this unique situation, under the discreet direction of the author.
Peter Šulavík (*1995) completed his master's degree in 2024 at the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava in the studio of free graphics of prof. Róbert Jančovič. In 2025, he won the Martin Benka prize for his final work. During his studies, as well as at present, he develops work with several media: with drawing, text, object and painting, while often interlinking these approaches when creating a work. He thinks about the work not only as a place of completed artistic capture, but as a place of experience in which the work takes place. He is interested in the field of not only visual, but also physical contact with materiality, shape, scale. He develops this feeling in the reduced artistic language of open constructions, frames, smooth empty surfaces, or in morphology referring to the everyday utilitarian environment. It explores the possible proximity between a work of art and a utilitarian object, a tool. The works bear a trace or a fragment not only of artistic intervention, but also of touch and haptic contact.
📍You can find the Artoteka Gallery in the Municipal Library at the Department of Music and Art Studies at Kapucínská 1.
