About event
The exhibition Manifestation Revolution Occupation is extended until 28.2.2025
We invite on 21.2.2025 for a commented show with the author of photographs Martin Marenčin and facilitator Samuel Sokol. He studied at the Slovak Technical University and then worked for ten years as a sound engineer in Slovak Radio. In the revolutionary year 1989, when he worked in the Bratislava “pyramid” of the Czechoslovak Radio, as an amateur photographer embarked on documenting the November events. Although he was not officially entrusted, his shots capture the unique atmosphere of the revolutionary days. With the panoramic lens, he documented mass gatherings, backstage and details that captured personal stories in the middle of historical changes.
In November 1992 he became a professional photographer. He won seven awards at the Czech Press Photo, Fuji Euro Press Photo Awards and Slovak Press Photo in 2001–2012 for his works. He completed nine exhibitions in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary (2005-2007) with the author's documentary project Slowly Slovakia and the selection of photographs from this ensemble became part of the international collective exhibition Slovakia lens of documentary photographers. As one of the two Slovak photographers, he was invited to participate in the book project One Day of the Czech Republic (2007). Choice Images (2006).
