How can individual beings harmonize into one movement, without a leader and without a plan? In nature, we see this in flocks of birds, swarms of bees or ant colonies, where the simple reactions of individuals make up the complex behavior of the whole. This principle, known as swarm intelligence, inspired not only scientists, but also artists.
The exhibition examines how the principles of collective intelligence can be transferred to human experience - from joint dancing or meditation to situations when the will of an individual defies the power of the crowd. Some works are directly related to the theme of the swarm, others question or overturn it – as in the case of Matej Gavula, who captures a moment of resistance against the movement of the crowd in the Run video. During the guided tour, we will look at how the boundaries between the individual and the whole in art dissolve, and what the phenomenon of joint movement can tell us about ourselves.
