About event
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 18:00 to 19:00, there will be a curatorial tour of Rastislav Podhorský's exhibition with Dominik Štrbo.
Artist Rastislav Podhorský focuses on figurative painting and drawing, but is also an occasional theorist and curator. His paintings are characterized by a combination of simplicity and non-obviousness, he is interested in intense moments in tiny human scenes and strives as a painter to combine the inscrutable painting process and the completeness of the resulting image. In 2021, he received his doctorate on the basis of a practical-theoretical work entitled Protirečník: Frameworks and latent possibilities of visual art. In the years 2017-2021, he was the head of the Painting Studio III. at VŠVU in Bratislava. He currently leads the Delta Painting Studio at the VŠVU. His work is part of many collections in the world. He lives and works in Bratislava.
During Rastislav Podhorský's exhibition, it will be possible to hear a musical set made up of songs from the album Mental Bubble Memories by music producer Stroon.
Stroon's solo performances combine a minimalist approach in both electronic and acoustic form. Straight mid-tempo beats as well as slower experimental positions are covered with his own synth surfaces. On top of this, the shimmering sound of the vibraphone shines. The tracks from the Metal Bubble Memories album were originally created for theater and film, where they ended up not being used, so Stroon turned them into stand-alone tracks. The dynamics of theater and film were transferred to their final form, so the album contains more ambient passages and more lively moments. Most of the sound on the album consists of digital synthesizers, but the collage of sounds is completed by acoustic guitars and vocals, this time without his signature vibraphone. Stroon further develops his relationship with the musical pulse as the main driving force. He would like to bring his current sound live again to clubs, churches, galleries and other interesting spaces.
