About event

Dear art lovers,
allow us to invite you to a guided tour and launch of the catalog for the exhibition
Bet Orten: YOUR BLOOD / MY ROSE, which will take place on Wednesday 24/06/2026 from 18:00 at The Chemistry Gallery, Halae 40, Holešovické tržnica (Bubenské nábřeží 306, Prague 7).

Commented the tour of the exhibition will take place with the author, curator and artistic director of the gallery, Petr Hájk.

In a multi-layered installation, the solo exhibition of the unique photographer Bet Orten reveals the themes of fragments of the female experience, imprints of trauma in the body and the relationship between body structures and the landscape. It brings to light what often remains hidden - fear, shame, inner shadows, but also strength and the ability to cope with life's events in a creative and emancipatory way. The motif of Bet's photographs is usually a staged female body or bodies in a natural environment, which here offers a certain confrontation, aggravation of conditions, but also an open field of possibilities. At the same time, the individual characters are not so much concrete personalities as aspects of the author's soul, autobiographical fragments. The title of the exhibition refers to a strong traumatic experience from childhood, when Bet immediately encountered the image of self-harm and the vulnerability of the closest person. This experience became the starting point for a long-term investigation of how trauma is stored in the body and memory and how it can be transformed through the image. The remnants of blood on the floor resembling rose petals to a large extent capture the essence of Bet's work - beauty is never shallow, it is the result of complex internal processes that do not resist darkness or the possibility of reassembling what was broken into a new, authentic and powerful self. The starting point of the exhibition is not so much the trauma itself as the long-term process of achieving inner freedom, the possibility of healing and renewal.

Bet Orten's work will be presented at the exhibition in an atmospheric installation, testing the possibilities and expanding the boundaries of the photographic medium. In addition to monumental textile prints, more intimate formats or photographic objects will also be exhibited. The audience will thus be drawn into the story, with the possibility not only to unravel the images of the author's inner mythology, but also to look into the stories and fragments of their own physical and mental experience.

Dear art lovers,
We would like to invite you to a guided tour of the exhibition
YOUR BLOOD / MY ROSES by Bet Orten, taking place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 6:00 PM at The Chemistry Gallery, Hall 40, Holešovice Market (Bubenské nábřeží 306, Prague 7).

The guided tour will be led by the artist, the curator, and the gallery’s artistic director Petr Hájek.

In a multilayered installation, the solo exhibition by distinctive photographer Bet Orten reveals fragments of female experience, traces of trauma embedded in the body, and the relationships between bodily structures and landscape. It brings to light what often remains hidden — fear, shame, inner shadows, but also strength and the ability to confront life’s experiences through creative and emancipatory means.

The central motif of Bet’s photography is usually the staged female body — or bodies — situated within natural environments that offer confrontation, heightened conditions, but also an open field of possibilities. The figures portrayed are not so much specific individuals as aspects of the artist's inner self, autobiographical fragments of the soul.
The exhibition title refers to a powerful traumatic childhood memory, when Bet was directly confronted with an image of self-harm and the vulnerability of someone close to her. This experience became the starting point for her long-term exploration of how trauma is stored within the body and memory, and how it can be transformed through image-making. Traces of blood on the floor resembling rose petals capture the essence of Bet's work — beauty is never superficial, but rather the result of complex inner processes that do not shy away from darkness or from the possibility of reconstructing what has been broken into a new, authentic, and powerful self.
The exhibition is therefore not solely about trauma itself, but about the long-term process of achieving inner freedom, healing, and renewal.

Bet Orten's work will be presented within an atmospheric installation that tests possibilities and expands the boundaries of the photographic medium. Alongside monumental textile prints, visitors will encounter more intimate formats and photographic objects. The audience is invited to immerse themselves in the narrative — not only uncovering images from the artist’s inner mythology, but also reflecting on fragments of their own bodies and emotional experience.
