Discover the unique environment of floodplain forests and the Danube during a guided walk that will take you to the Hrušovská reservoir - the largest water reservoir in Slovakia. The autumn season brings a lot of birds to the Danube, which rest here, nest or replenish supplies for the long journey to the south. Join us for an exceptional birdwatching experience through binoculars and monoculars.
Do you want to learn more about the history of the Gabčíkovo waterworks, its impact on the surrounding nature, and why the bed of the Danube is such an exceptional natural filter? Do you know what habitats floodplain forests create and what kinds of birds you can meet here? Together we will talk about the importance of river ecosystems, their cleaning ability and why they are essential for the life of people and animals.
We will talk about all this during the walk, the main goal of which will be birdwatching near the Hrušovská dam. You will see elegant herons, noisy cormorants, cheerful coots, seagulls and various types of ducks. And if we are lucky, we will also see the king of our predators - the majestic sea eagle. Participants can record the observed species in worksheets and determine them using the Slovakian Bird Atlas.

Dates:
The walks will always take place on Sundays, on 12.10., 26.10., 2.11., 16.11., 30.11., 14.12.
Meeting place:
Ekocentrum Čunovo, n.o., at 1:00 p.m. h, where you will meet the guide. Together we will go through the historic part of the village of Čunovo, past the Čunovská arm, dam and seepage channel to the Hrušovská reservoir. The duration of the program is about 3.5 hours. If you are interested, we will also lend you a pair of binoculars (indicate whether you are interested or not interested in borrowing it when filling out the order).
Recommendations
The walk takes place in the wild, so we ask participants to dress appropriately and wear shoes for the terrain - we recommend sturdy, waterproof shoes and clothing suitable for the natural environment. Please note that during the activity we are moving in a natural environment outside the built-up area, where various unpredictable situations can occur (e.g. weather changes, slippery terrain, presence of insects, etc.). Ecocentrum Čunovo is not responsible for the effects of nature and their possible consequences on the participants. In case of good weather, we recommend packing enough fluids.
Who is the walk intended for
For all curious, nature lovers, ages 10 and up. The number of participants is limited.
Before the start of the trip, you must present a valid ticket with a QR code (on your mobile phone or printed), don't forget to take it with you.
