About event

We invite you to the screening of the German documentary film ⊙𝐶Who does my village belong to?⊙
𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟙, 𝟡𝟞 𝚆𝚖𝚖
⊙The screening will be followed by a discussion in which we will look at whether we can find parallels between this seemingly different environment and Prague's localities.

The island of Rügen, a popular holiday destination in the former East Germany, began to attract investors after the reunification of the country. Will the village of Göhren become a commercial resort with limited space for the local community? The Göhren council allowed construction to a single developer, but as local residents watch the unique landscape disappear, their discontent grows. The felled forest, where all the children from Göhren used to play, alternates with a luxury hotel with a cable car. A giant parking garage contracted for 80 years, a plan to create a spa resort on the most beautiful beach in the village. Behind all the projects is investor Wilfried Horst, whom the village management has supported for many years. But the cup of patience of the locals is running out and the municipal elections are approaching. A story about the power of local activism was filmed by a native of Göhren, ℂ𝕊𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕣𝕟𝕥 (ČSFD, Jeden svět)
