The magazine concept 09
Theme: roof
on sale from 26.3.3. aesthetics, protection with elegance. It is a place where technical knowledge of creativity encounters, as well as a final touch that gives the building its character and identity. The Slovak roof country is (sometimes too much) varied. We will focus on the latest thinking about architecture in the context of history and again imagine a selection of inspirational realizations (not only) on this topic. We will go through the projects of Slovak studios Office 110, architectural studio JRKVC, Paulina Hovorka architects. We are also pursuing the phenomenon of green roofs, roof care and the theme of monumental renewal. The Roofscapes project also awarded the price of the new European Bauhaus brings an innovative way of transforming unused pitched roofs in Paris and other European cities for green and accessible spaces. Adriána Henčeková examines the emergence of the first green roof in Panelák in Brno in an interview with the initiator of the project, vice -chairwoman of the Community of Unit Owners (SVJ) on Švermova Street 8 in Brno, architect Martina Polachová. The potential of reconstructions, not only the roofs of apartment buildings, was told by architect Tomáš Čunderlík from Rethink Architecture for the concept. In most apartment buildings, this is therefore the only common space that can serve for community purposes. The topic of joint management of apartment buildings in the context of a post -socialist society is dedicated to the text of the association Association. The phenomenon of temporary architecture also in the context of public spaces is devoted to the dissertation research of Simona Kolimárová (Guča architecture) we will look specifically at shelter projects.
The roof can be perceived as a symbol of protection and stability, as a border between chaos and order, between the outside world and our interior space. The roof resists wind, rain, snow - everything that the outside world throws at it. Like us, as people, we are constantly facing external challenges that verify our strength and durability. In the cultural community, we have felt in recent months that the metaphorical roof of the years built by institutions bursts and the inside of the unwanted dirt is starting to leak. On the front page of this number, we chose the reproduction of the work of the Czechoslovak artist Adolf Hoffmeister called Red Roof from the SNG collections. The red color also bridges to the characteristic element of the grandfather. Martin Zaiček writes about the architecture exhibition in the SNG. The gallery building was reconstructed, it has won several architectural prizes, but will its successful and dignified operation continue? Our inner strength, as well as the quality of the roof, stems from how we prepare for life storms. We are determined not to give up and continue to support quality in art in Slovakia!
There is a new, fourth year of magazine concept. We start with the new editorial board, (old) with new energy and enthusiasm! The editorial work, this time the professional coverage of the content, is returning to the founding executive editor -in -chief of architect Kristína Tomanová and Tatiana Kuva. Alexandra Kusá, a curator and theorist of architecture, joins the team. Our goal is also a closer interconnection with the academic community, so we are pleased that Nina Bartošová (Vut Brno, Fad STU), Michal Bogár (FAD STU) and Irakli Eristavi (TU Košice) also accepted the invitation to the editorial board. Last but not least, we are looking forward to the advice and comments of Kornel Kobák, the architect active in the Slovak Chamber of Architects and ACE (Architects Council of Europe).
