About event

Not only Bossa Nova Trio is the daughter of Bossa Nova João Gilberto Quintet. We are honest interpretation of the musical work of Genia Joã Gilbert - one of the founders of the Brazilian genre Boss Nova. Who would not know one of the most played songs in the world Girl from Ipanem? In the repertoire we have honestly rehearsed the whole "first album Bossa Novy" Chega de Saudade (1959), a selection from the legendary album Getz/Gilberto (1964), songs sung by Astrud Gilberto and our other Gilbert frogs from the 1970s and 80s. When we don't play five, but three, we tend to include other popular Brazilian songs or author's work inspired by our Brazilian musical patterns. JH: "... because of João I started trying to sing, learn Portuguese, I ended up in Portugal first and finally in Brazil. Let it be silent and unobtrusive not less than noisy and striking ..."

Juraj Havlík (guitar, singing) (bicie, perkusie)

Clube de Esquiar pozostáva z dvoch bratov, Juraja Havlíka (gitara, spev) a Jakuba Havlíka (bicie, spev) z Banskej Bystrice, spolu s dvoma spolupracovníkmi z Berlína, David Maroto (bass) and Martin Brandorff (Flaute). As the previous sentence may have indicated, the band oscillates between Berlin and Banska Bystrica. This expression reflects both the time-spatial situation of the band and its genre or stylish classification. The first aspect applies to the founding brothers, Juraj and James, who spent time in Brazil, where they drew musical inspiration - elements that, after returning home, incorporated into their sound. The second aspect concerns long, meditative guitar sound surfaces often associated with post-rock, mixed with MPB elements (Popular Brasileira), psychedelia, jazz and avant-garde.
