SARE ROMA (LTU)
Do you love Roma songs from Eastern Europe? The ones that start with a slow, melancholic tune and in no time turn into a beat that gets the whole audience cheering? Us too! And that's why we invited the Lithuanian ensemble Sare Roma, which is one of the most famous Roma groups in Lithuania, to Khamoro this year. Since the 1990s, he has been presenting the music of the Lithuanian Roma to the audience, which is characterized by the motifs of Russian and Polish Roma folklore. In their performances, Sare Roma often combine traditional Roma romances with more modern pop songs. The group is led by the charismatic singer Ištvan Kvik, who also became famous in Lithuania by participating in the national selection for the Eurovision contest. But Sare Roma are not just a band. Their concerts are close to a theater show, where singing, music and dancing naturally combine. This cannot be described in a few lines of text. You have to experience this!
SOLDIER SHAVE (HUN)
Do you know energetic Hungarian chaps? If not, you can experience them yourself at Khamor! They are brought by the band Vojake Shave - "cheerful men" in Romani. And believe me, this name fits perfectly. The group consists of experienced musicians from Roma musical families who have been surrounded by music since childhood. In their work, they are based on the musical tradition of the Hungarian Roma, which they keep alive and at the same time give it a contemporary form. Their repertoire is based on original Roma songs, which they perform with infectious energy and a strong temperament. It is the combination of strong voices, spontaneous rhythms and natural musicianship that gives the band a distinctive sound that the audience will quickly remember. Vojake Shave regularly perform at festivals in Hungary and abroad, where they quickly gain an audience from among Roma and mainstream society. You can expect Romani music that has momentum, rhythm and the joy of playing. And chapás, with whom it is difficult to stay seated.
MAYA ATANASOVA & KARANDILA ORKESTAR (BGR)
It wouldn't be Khamoro without authentic Balkan brass! And this year, the Karandila Orchestra from Sliven, Bulgaria, is bringing it to the biggest Roma festival in the world. This band belongs to the best that the Balkan Roma brass band has to offer. Their music combines the tradition of Bulgarian brass bands with the rhythm of swing, bebop and oriental melodies. Result? A sound that will blow you away before you can say the first "bravo". Karandila Orchestra has performed at major European festivals and their concerts are famous for not leaving the audience sitting for long. The singer Maya Atanasova, one of the most interesting voices of the young generation of the Bulgarian Roma scene, often joins them on stage. Traditional Balkan melodies in her performance sound raw, but at the same time modern. And it is this combination that is quickly gaining an audience at home and abroad. Take it to the Balkans with us! It's going to be a ride with the Karandila Orchestra!
