About event
The Prague City Gallery organizes a conference on the possibilities of experiencing present and history through art in public space. There will be a conference through selected posts? What? To ask to whom and what artistic activities - be it the works of permanent or temporary nature - in the public space of the 21st century.
Art works in public space can act as comments of historical events, critical reflection tools or means of active public involvement. Nowadays, however, the roles, form and expectations that are placed on them are changing. The commemorative event of an ephemeral character - in the Czech environment, for example, an annual parade for November 17th or a symbolic circumvention of the Faculty of Arts shortly after the local mass attack - can have as important impact for local communities as material reminder works. Happening and performative -type events often enter public space from the position of civic initiative and without much bureaucratic burden suffering from institutionalized processes of installing permanent works of art.
What is the role of commemorative events, happenings and festivals in shaping collective memory? How do the forms of participation - whether in artistic or community projects - allow society to remember, process the past and experience collective history? How can intangible artistic events strengthen community ties and civic engagement? How can we remind not only historical personalities, but also collective experiences and ordinary people who have shaped history through art in public space? How can art events help create space for new forms of recalling recent events? How does the processes of implementation of permanent and temporary artistic interventions in public space? href = "https://tinyurl.com/conferencekmp"> https://tinyurl.com/conferencekmp
