We invite you to the conference People with deafblindness: A minority within a minority, which will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Prague.
The aim of the conference is to support the community of experts and organizations dealing with the issue of deafblindness.

The conference will offer space for discussion on the possibilities of how people with deafblindness and experts can actively participate in the advocacy activities of the ASNEP organization and thus support the self-defense of this specific community. The emphasis will be on accessibility and equalization of opportunities for people with deafblindness.
The conference will feature leading experts and organizations dealing with deafblindness and their support. Special guests will be three experts from abroad - from France, Catalonia and Germany - who will present their innovative approaches and experiences. The entire event will be focused not only on sharing experiences from the Czech Republic, but also on international inspiration.

At the conference, you will also see practical examples of communication with people with deafblindness, which will allow you to better understand the specifics of communication and interaction with this group. persons.
The conference program is currently in the finalization phase. The complete program will be published soon and we will start registration at the same time. Follow this event and our social networks.
The Public Defender of Rights took over the patronage of the conference, which underlines the importance and significance of this event for the promotion of the rights of people with deafblindness.

Topic: Education and development of communication in children with deafblindness

Summary: Education of children with deafblindness is a complex process, the basis of which is the building of a functional communication system tailored to each child. The lecture emphasizes the importance of developing communication skills, access to leisure activities and leading children to maximum independence in obtaining information and communicating with the environment.

Topic: Education of a child with deafblindness in the 1st grade of ZŠ

Summary: The lecture provides concrete examples of special pedagogical work with a girl with deafblindness in during the first three years of elementary school. The methods and procedures used to adapt teaching to the needs of the child will be presented, as well as the demands on the teacher who works with children with this disability.

Summary: Marek Müller, who has been blind and hearing-impaired since birth, will present his personal experiences with the use of various social services for people with deaf-blindness. It will focus on the differences between registered and unregistered services, including those provided to students with disabilities at universities.

Topic: Leisure activities for the deaf-blind

Summary: Ota Pačesová will present leisure activities organized by the Club of Friends of Red and White Canes for people with deaf-blindness. The lecture will also include an overview of workshops for children and youth, focused on the integration and education of the deaf-blind.

Summary: Petr Vysuček and Kateřina Pešková will present the concept of making public space accessible for deaf-blind people who prefer to communicate in Czech sign language . It will focus on the definition of public space, including physical and digital places, and on the connection of general measures of public institutions with individual services within social services.

Summary: Bára Flusserová will share her personal experiences of living with deafblindness and the knowledge she gained at the European camp for young people with deafblindness, which took place in Germany and Belgium.
