About event

We invite you to a groundbreaking conference called "Overcoming Isolation: New Hope for Families with Autism," which will take place on October 21, 2024 in Brno.
//
Today, when the world is increasingly connected, still many families with children with autism and Asperger syndrome face isolation. Our innovative approaches, such as homesharing and volunteering, show a way out of this isolation – a way that benefits not only children and their families, but society as a whole.
//
What can you expect at the conference?
• Ecosystem of support: We present a model in which a child with autism is surrounded by circles of support – family, community of volunteers, hosts and wider society.
• Mutual enrichment: Encounters that enrich all involved – children gain new experiences, parents relief, volunteers and hosts a new perspective.
• Bottom-up learning: Professionals and institutions learn from families and the community. We thus create a more efficient and humane support system based on skills acquired through training and direct experience.
• Visibility in the community: Thanks to the greater presence of people with differences in everyday life, society becomes more open and less afraid of the unknown.
• Economic benefits: We will explore how these approaches can be a more cost-effective alternative to traditional services.
• The path to inclusion: We will show how small steps lead to the creation of an inclusive society where everyone has a dignified place.
Come share your experiences, ideas and hopes. Together we can create a world where every child with autism and his family have their place under the sun - not on the sidelines, but in the heart of our community.
The conference program includes:
• summary of project activities and results,
• examples of good practice and experiences of families, hosts and volunteers,
• presentation of the activities of cooperating organizations,
• current information about homesharing and volunteering,
• discussion about the limits of volunteering and the expectations of all parties involved .
//
Who is the conference intended for?
The conference is intended for representatives of organizations that bring together informal caregivers, families with children with autism or other health disabilities, representatives of institutions providing social services and volunteer activities, even for parents and family members themselves. Representatives of institutions responsible for social services and related policies are also invited.
//
Your participation will help:
• send a signal about the need for diverse support for families with children with autism,
• to support the idea of shared care in the community,
• inspiration for new ideas and opportunities for cooperation,
• to show that education is not only about knowledge, but also about personality development and strengthening empathy.
//
The conclusion of the conference will bring a summary and an output that can be further disseminated to defend the rights and needs of families with autism and other disabilities.
