Puka Wali means “red pollera” in Quechua, a piece of clothing worn primarily by indigenous women of the Andean region bear. The pollera is part of everyday life and in this context it symbolizes the hopes and life in the Andes as well as the joy of singing together. This evening it also represents the meeting of three artists who are firmly rooted in the Andean region: Consuelo Jerí, Quechua-speaking singer from Peru; Lucie Delahaye, French guitarist and singer based in Argentina and Carole Stöcklin, cultural manager from Belgium, who plays Quena and Charango. In a program of their own compositions and adaptations of popular Latin American pieces, they honor Latin American composers in particular and present the musical cultures of the Andean region.
