About event

In the KOOK series "Slow Dating", two artists meet: Inside from different divisions for an intensive exchange about poetics, politics and the discourses they shape.

On September 9, the author Stefanie de Velasco invited the singer and songwriter Katharina Franck to studio 119. The songs by Katharina Franck and her band Rainbirds have been accompanying Stefanie de Velasco all their lives and have a special meaning for them. At her first personal meeting, she asked the singer about her artistic path. How did she get to music, what were her role models and inspiration? What role does Berlin play for her work - as a creative city, as a place of life, as a protagonist in art? How did the singer experience the 1980s as a queer front woman, and how does the city experience today?

The text letter combines both artists. How do you deal with language, what stories do you want to tell, what are your topics? How strongly influence socio -political discourses and current polarizations? The two also combine the success - and the pressure that arises from it. They talk about how they dealt with it and with creative doubts and how they manage not to lose the joy of artistic work, to stay with themselves and continue to pursue their own way.
