Dear friends,
I would like to invite you to the opening of my photos.
The KORENE photo series is the result of long-term documentation of the world, which attracts me with its visuality and authenticity. It is about a world that flows differently than everyday life as we know it. I'm interested in the same way I used to be in the world of people in my grandmother's faded photos. Who were my ancestors, how did they dress, what worlds did they discover, or which features or facial features did I have with ancestors who are long gone, similar? Understanding such details has always helped me understand who I am and where my roots are.
I see a similar parallel in the subjects that are part of the exhibited photo series, despite the fact that I have no blood ties to the people I photographed. But we are united by language and perhaps an intuitive and at the same time natural understanding of what we are a part of when we find ourselves in a common space and time. What attracts me to them is the search for such moments that refer to the knowledge and experience of our ancestors, but take place here and now. These are fragments of life intertwined with tradition and with a flow that passes more slowly than other everyday days. These moments always connect a wider spectrum of people, and perhaps because of this they are also a potential space where personal views and self-understanding in complex interpersonal relationships are polished and shaped into forms other than just black and white thanks to common rituals, such as the manual mowing of meadows in Kopanca in Slovakian paradise, building May Day for a girl in the village or celebrating the winter solstice.
