About event
✉️ Freedom unites us. Already 35 years.
❤️ November 17 is no longer a remembrance of the past regime – it is a look into the future. Our society is divided by many opinions and inequalities. However, all these problems should not divide society, but rather unite them in an effort to find a solution. Come and remind yourself this year that freedom is not a matter of course, nor an empty word.
🗣️ What can you look forward to? A varied cultural and educational program for adults and children. Music, theatre, workshops, lectures, debates, exhibitions or audiovisual installations. Over 100 program points.
🎙️ The Czech national anthem will be sung by Ráchel Skleničková at 1:00 p.m. on Národní třída from the balcony of the Metro Palace. Prayer for Marta will of course not be missing. It will be sung by Anna Fialová at exactly 17:11 this year and will be preceded by the premiere of the short film Freedom Connects Us.
📽️ Czech Television and Czech Radio Radiožurnál will broadcast the song live, and you can watch everything on Národní třída also on the projection areas at Voršilská Street and Jungmann Square and enjoy this moment along the entire length of the street.
🎇 Traditionally, the place of worship Národní trída will be lit with candles in memory of those who fought for freedom. Can't you light a candle? Don't worry, it burns from a distance! Write a message online and we'll light it for you.
🍽️ Start your favorite day of the year with a velvet brunch! Like last year, Antonín's bakery will prepare it for you, and the proceeds from the sale will go to help single mothers who are helped by the Fandi Mamas organization. Personalities from the world of culture and public events will read from contemporary literature and current topics. Among them, for example, Silvie Lauder, Marek Torčík, Petra Procházková or Vladimír Merta.
🚋 Stopped trams will bring a lot of lectures and other educational programs. This year, children can have fun in the art workshop at the UMPRUM Technology Center in Mikulandská street.
