The iris in the Middle Ages was not only a symbol of beauty and royal power, but also a source of beautiful pigment. At our workshop we will focus on the historical techniques of iris flowers and the production of iris color, which was used in illuminated manuscripts and paintings. Participants will learn how to extract pigment from flowers, how to stabilize the color according to medieval recipes and how to work with it in art. Everyone will take home the sculpture and the original illustration, which it paints with this fine dye. Come to discover the story of Iris, which dates back to the history of art and natural alchemy.
