KovnaFest 2024: Život, jedna báseň, není peříčko

The Prague premiere of the film poem by director Kateřina Dudová will take place as part of the KovnaFestX festival. The screening will be introduced by a short performance by rapper Vratislav Parikráma.

Life, one poem, not a feather / Kateřina Dudová / Czech Republic 2024 – Everyone perceives poetry differently. For some, a poem is a rhyming text, for others a metaphysical experience. For the director Kateřina Dudová, it is an experiment with her three close people, whom she places in one room for three days and leaves them to their fate with the task of writing a poem. Sometimes the recording of real events is more poetic than the poem itself. Kateřina Dudová: "I was given the task of making a 'film poem', but I hate poems, so I'm looking for something... the feeling I'd like to get from poetry, how I feel. What is a poem?"

Kateřina Dudová (1987) Studied directing/dramaturgy at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater at Prague's DAMU, currently studying documentary production at FAMU under the guidance of Helena Třeštíková. She also performs under the stage name Loly Lolyová. She is the author of the documentaries Vykuř! (2019) and My heaven is worse than your hell (2023), in which she focuses on people living outside social conventions. For her feature debut My heaven is worse than your hell last year, she received a special recognition from the jury at the MFDF Jihlava, which was also nominated for the Czech Lion for the best documentary film. In his work, he explores the limits of authenticity. She has had several collaborations with Czech Television, as well as with various scenes of Czech theater and works as a lecturer in both fields.
