About event
David Tibet and Current 93 will come to Prague after many years.
Current 93 led by magician David Tibet are a unique entity. He creates dark compositions full of mysticism and fantasy. They play very sporadically, and when they decide to play a concert, the venue itself has to appeal to them. After eighteen years, their magical post-apocalyptic folk church of St. Simon and Jude in Prague will be heard again. This unique artistic experience will take place on November 16, 2024 in the form of a special concert as part of the KovnaFest festival - which, in addition to the classic festival program, will also include a conference on avant-garde, experimental and alternative music.
Magic. How else to sum up in one word the ritual work of one of the most respected figures in the art world - David Tibet, who develops his visions as a poet, painter, but above all as a musician in the band Current 93. Companion of Nurse With Wound, Throbbing Gristle and Coil, with collaborators such as Baby Dee , Genesis P-Orridge, Michael Cashmore, Nick Cave, BjΓΆrk and hundreds of artists inspired by David Tibet look up in his image. ultimately, it is above all a sincere effort to produce an extraordinary artistic performance. They went through an industrial, noise period until they visited dark folk, where Tibet's occult texts full of symbolism and magic became even more prominent. Tibet puts poetry into music, at the same time he always paid attention to multifaceted and varied arrangements. He thus creates a unique world of his own with each new record. "Beautiful sadness scenically plucked from the English countryside." This is how their last studio album If a City Is Set Upon a Hill was labeled.
Current 93 will return to Prague after eighteen years to appear again on the same place. In the church of St. Ε imona and Judy will play one of the few announced concerts this and the coming year.
They will arrive in a line-up that will include David Tibet (vocals), Reinier van Houdt (piano), Alasdair Roberts (guitar), Andrew Liles (electronics), Aloma Ruiz Boada (violin), Michael York (wind instruments), David Pepe (visualization).

David Tibet and Current 93 to Visit Prague After Many Years
Current 93, led by the enigmatic David Tibet, is a unique entity. They create beautiful dark compositions filled with mysticism and fantasy. Each concert is an unforgettable experience. They perform very sporadically, and when they do decide to tour, the venue itself must resonate with them. After eighteen years, their magical post-apocalyptic folk will once again echo in the Church of St. Simon and St. Jude in Prague. This unrepeatable artistic experience will take place on November 16, 2024, as a special concert within the KovnaFest festival. In addition to the classic festival program, KovnaFest will also feature a conference on avant-garde, experimental, and alternative music.
Magic. What other word could summarize the ritualistic work of one of the most respected figures in the art world β David Tibet, who develops his visions as a poet, painter, but primarily as a musician with the band Current 93. A fellow traveler of Nurse With Wound, Throbbing Gristle, and Coil, with collaborators such as Baby Dee, Genesis P-Orridge, Michael Cashmore, Nick Cave, and BjΓΆrk, David Tibet has inspired hundreds of artists who reflect his influence in their work.
The world of Current 93 is extraordinarily colorful, chaotic, with many detours and nooks, but ultimately, it is about the sincere effort to deliver an exceptional artistic performance. They have journeyed through industrial and noise periods, arriving at dark folk, where Tibet's occult lyrics full of symbolism and magic are further emphasized. Tibet brings more poetry into the music, always ensuring varied and rich arrangements. Each new album creates a unique world of its own. "A beautiful sadness theatrically torn from the English countryside" β this is how their latest studio album If a City Is Set Upon a Hill was described.
