About event
Invitation from the authors:
The lecture will present a completely unique find of a bronze bucket discovered in 2017 in the village of Kladina in Pardubice. It is a completely preserved, masterfully hammered bronze sheet vessel.
It is unique not only in its size, but also in its processing and uniqueness. The bucket is decorated with very fine hammered and engraved decoration in the form of meanders, knotted bands, but also several symmetrically distributed scenes of water birds pulling the solar barge. An analogous vessel is not known from the territory of Bohemia at all, and its sisters are mainly sought in the Carpathian region. It is very likely that from here sometime during the 10th century BC. traveled - perhaps as a luxury item of exchange, or a gift for the then ruler.
It clearly had a strong ritual significance and thanks to the detailed work of colleagues from the ranks of palynologists and chemists, it was possible to find the remains of a large number of herbs and especially millet in its interior. What is even more interesting is the discovery that the millet was boiled - so there was a unique drink in the container - probably beer. You will learn about the find itself, its collection, the interpretation of symbols and, last but not least, the discovery of "beer" in the following lecture.
The lecture will also include beer + a screening of the film. Jan Jílek (Masaryk University in Brno), Tereza Jošková and Tomáš Libánek (East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice).
Collection of authors: Jan Jílek, Martin Golec, Petr Bednář, Miloslav Chytráček, David Vích, Tomáš Zavoral, Zuzana Golec Mírová, Libor Petr, Jaromír Kovárník Jr., Peter Milo, Lukáš Kučera, Tereza Jošková, Eva Salavcová, Tomáš Libánek.
