The new publication of ArtMap will present the sociologist of the visual culture and translator of the book Andrea Průchová Hrůzová together with Anne König of the German publishing house Spector Books.

The book ↓
Jonas Mekas, a key figure in experimental cinematography and the independent art scene of the second half of the 20th century, offers a readable journey to the time of avant -garde culture, new art forms and provocative social ideas in the 1960s. The set of shorter reviews, critical reflections, theoretical considerations and interviews captures fundamental contemporary personalities and teams and their work, such as Pier Paolo Pasolini, Stanley Brakhage, Nam Jun Paik, Susan Sontag, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, Andy Warhol, Living Theater or Allen Ginsberg. Rich archival materials give a unique atmosphere. With playfulness, erudition and peculiar poetics, Mekas deals with the phenomena of enlarged film, intermediate work or new forms of happening and performances. Presents not only as a filmmaker, but above all as a sensitive and critical observer and commentator of his time.
