About event
We cordially invite you to the launch of a translation publication in the Czech Republic of the less well-known, but internationally respected theorist, historian and photographer Allan Sekula (1951-2013).
7.11. 2024, 5:00 p.m.
ArtMap Bookstore in the TIC Gallery
The Czech translation presents his two essays: Photographs between Labor and Capital (1983) and Eternal Aesthetics of Labor Gestures (1996), in which the author deals with the history of depicting mining and underground workers, but also with the use of photography by industry as a tool for the supervision of manual labor and in building the public image of industrial enterprises. Last but not least, it addresses the question of photography itself as work, thus offering an interesting commentary on the current debate about artistic activity as work. will also present the place.
