About event

In 2024, 100 years have passed since the birth of an important Czech choreographer and one of the most prominent personalities of modern ballet, Luboš Ogoun (February 18, 1924 – February 14, 2009).

Pavel Šmok Foundation and Institute in dedicates a new monograph to this important artist in the year of this anniversary. The authors of the book, which fills another empty place in the history of ballet of the second half of the 20th century, are the historian Kateřina Šalounová, who is studying the history of ballet after the Second World War as part of her postgraduate studies at the Department of Theater Studies of the MU in Brno, and the dance publicist and historian Lucie Kocourková , which has been dedicated to the popularization of dance art for a long time and is the author of four book publications.

The Pavel Šmok Foundation and Institute published in in previous years, a monograph on the Studio Ballet Praha troupe and choreographer Pavlo Šmok, now brings to this a comprehensive portrait of the choreographer Luboš Ogoun, which is primarily the work of the author from Brno. Luboš Ogoun's work is primarily connected with the Brno ballet scene. However, he is also a co-founder of the Ballet Praha ensemble, which is why the Pavel Šmok Institute undertook the publication of the publication and initiated its creation.

Come and browse through or purchase the new narrative publication, which you can also take away with signatures. In an attractive design on chalk paper and with a number of unique period photographs, it is another narrative publication celebrating the art of dance and ballet.
