On the occasion of the launch of the publication Returning survey: Connections, structures and transformations of the Ostrava art scene, the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague will present a panel discussion on how to approach the artistic production of the nineties. Its guests will be Martin Babička (historian, ÚSD AS CR), Vojtěch Märc (art historian, AVU) and Tomáš Pospiszyl (art historian, AVU). The moderator role will be taken by Johana Lomová (art historian, UMPRUM).
Art history is a field that integrates works into a historical context and thus creates their interpretation. However, what should research on the creation of the recent past look like? How to write an art history that is contemporary? The panel discussion will try to answer these and other related questions.
The evening will conclude with a concert by the band Body of Pain, in which the artist Jan Vytiska and the artist Tereza Ovčačíková perform.
