About event

We invite you to the launch and exhibition of the book: Short Stories on a Long Theme by the author Edita Liessner.

How do we find closeness in an environment where people are physically close but emotionally feel alienated?

The Short Stories on a Long Theme series lyrically explores feelings of alienation and the human need for closeness in the contemporary urban environment. It combines geometric studio still lifes with documentary photographs reduced to basic shapes, forms and color relationships. Human figures often appear only indirectly in these paintings – as silhouettes, reflections or traces of movement.

Color theory plays an important role in the series, through which harmony and tension are created between the individual elements of the image. At the same time, these relationships become a metaphor for interpersonal interactions. The series is based on the paradox of urban life, in which people are physically close to each other, yet there is often a distance between them. It traces the moments in which loneliness and closeness intertwine, as well as the ways in which we seek connection with others in everyday life.
