KRIS DAVIS TRIO

Debut at our festival, under the Licejazz umbrella, a well of Delikatessen. The pianist Kris Davis at the head of her trio, with Robert Hurst to the double bass and Jonathan Blake to the drums, two musicians who present a curriculum with stable collaborations with artists such as Branford Marsalis, Geri Allen, Kenny Barron and Dave Holland, and with which Davis has recorded his latest disc, Run the Gauntlet. Music all of its own (also a composition of Blake) that wants to be a metaphor for the overcoming of challenges to achieve the proposed objectives. And Davis does it in the form of a tribute to six pioneer pianists: the aforementioned Geri Allen, Carla Bley, Renee Rosnes, Angélica Sánchez, Marilyn Chispell and Sylvie Courvoisier. «Beyond the outstanding music, What Makes Run the Gauuntlet Significant is oud use of tempo and how it is used to create pieces that soar with Spirit While Remaining Coupled to Structure. Think of a Kite that Sways Along in the Wind While Tethered to a String, ”he wrote, very relevantly, Don PHIPPS (Freejazzblog.org). Like a comet to the wind tied to a rope: this is how we expect the premiere of Kris Davis at the festival.
