About event
What is contemporary poetry, what are its themes, and how does it differ from slightly older poetry? What kind of critical reception and response does it receive?
We can notice significant shifts in poetry over the last five to ten years. This applies not only to the focus on environmental and social issues, the reflection of the covid pandemic and current war conflicts; the onset of forms and procedures inspired by new media is also evident. When we compare the poems published after 2020 with the production of the nineties, the difference is obvious.
What is not only Czech poetry like today? Is it comparable to the poetry of the Central European region? How is the influence of female poets and poets who come to a different linguistic context manifested? We will discuss these and other questions in the May Critical Club A2.
