About event
We invite you to the music-education program, which we implement in cooperation with the Marián Varga Society with the support of the Art Support Fund as part of the Art for Schools challenge.
The event will take place on November 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Žilina City Library.
The interactive concert entitled "Taming the Devil and Finding Beauty" is intended for children in the second grade of elementary school and grades 1-2. years of secondary school, who may not have much experience with classical music. The work of Marián Varga in this project serves as a gateway to the most valuable authors of the European musical tradition - Bartók, Bach, Haydn, Stravinsky, whose works will be presented in a live interpretation by two top Slovak artists - pianist Ivan Šiller and cellist Jozef Lupták in connection with words, images, musical demonstrations and informal communication with children.
The company has performed 18 concerts in Levoč, Bardejov, Revúca, Sabinov, Michalovci, Prievidz, Kysucky Nové Mesto and Žilina. The response has been truly extraordinary and inspiring and has reassured us that we are doing meaningful work in building young people's awareness of the arts.
Event format: 45 min. interactive concert + 20 min. an interview with the students, which follows immediately after the concert part
Invited audience from your school: 2 - 3 classes from II. level (max. 50 students)
The aim of the project, in addition to the music itself, is to provide young listeners with a sense of excellence and joy from visiting a cultural event. At the same time, we offer a space to "feel" the concert, to stay in its atmosphere through spontaneous conversations with the performers and with each other. In order to inspire work with students and develop the topic also within the teaching, we have created a methodical sheet for teachers, which we will provide to you after the concert.
We offer the event free of charge thanks to project funding from the Art for Schools FPU call. Therefore, we only expect active participation and enthusiasm for the project and its mediation by your students on the part of your school.
You can register your team by phone 0413816060 or by e-mail [email protected] no later than 29 October 2024.
