Malibu na Dunaji is Juráňová's third book of short stories, after Zverinec (1993) and Lásky nebeské (2010), while the author diligently filled the periods between them with short stories, novels, plays, children's books and translations. In a collection of eighteen short stories of various lengths, the present day emerges from the youth of many of the characters, experienced in the gray totalitarian seventies. At other times, today's youth is overshadowed by an underappreciation of artistic activity, activity or desire. In spite of expectations, men are not always negative characters in these stories, sometimes they are just a little sullen, other times they are downright bucolic and idyllic, and once one even turns into a woman, while even women, regardless of expectations, are not portrayed idealistically. Sometimes animals also appear in the stories, be it mouse cubs, lost kittens or cats, so the author could not avoid the fact that the common fate of humans and animals sometimes merge into one.

Jana Juráňová (1957) is a novelist, playwright, translator. Several of her prose books made it to the final ten of the prestigious Anasoft litera national prize, many were translated into German, English, French, Macedonian, Slovenian and Hungarian. Several of her plays were successfully performed on Slovak stages and she also wrote several books for children. He translates fiction and professional literature from English. In the early 1990s, together with other women from the fields of culture and science, she actively participated in the creation of the feminist project ASPEKT, which from its beginnings until now has significantly influenced social and cultural life in Slovakia, while Jana Juráňová is still active in it today. In 2019, the President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, awarded her the Order of Ľudovít Štúr, 1st class, for extraordinary merits for the development of democracy, for the protection of human rights and freedoms, and for the development of literary activity.
